Famous Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

March 20, 2011

*Note: See all my “Sweet Saturday” posts here.

There’s not much to say about these cookies except for the fact that they’re famous. And delicious. And the dough is equally as good as the cookies. They’re a mainstay around these parts.

Here’s how you make ’em:

Lauren’s Famous Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/2 cup salted butter

3/4 cup sugar

2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar

2 egg whites

1 1/4 cups peanut butter

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

A whole bunch of chocolate chips

Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugars, beating well. Add egg whites, beating well. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla. Set aside.

Combine flour and soda; gradually add to butter mixer, mixing well. Stir in chocolate chips.

Shape dough into 48 (1 1/2-inch) balls, and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 9-10 minutes until lightly browned. (The key is pulling them out when they still look a bit doughy) Allow to cool and enjoy!
